Moving On Up...

to Prosper, TX that is!  Life as we've known it for the past 11 months has come to an end.  We've been enjoying life in our little apartment, but are at a point where paying off debt and saving money is of more importance to us than our own comfort.  We are blessed to have the opportunity to do this, mainly because of the generosity of my in-laws.  They have offered up their home, in order that we might better prepare for our future.  The last couple weeks have been filled with packing up our belongings, mostly for storage, and making the move.
It was a shock to me as I realized how attached I was to that little apartment.  We celebrated many firsts there, including our first Christmas and Valentine's Day as a married couple, my first meals for my husband, the celebration of my first job in TX and many more.  It's reassuring to know that where we live doesn't define who we are.  We look forward to this temporary time that we have with Robbie's parents to grow in our dependence on the Lord and in our relationship with each other and those around us.  

Here is a look at just a few memories in our first "home."

What's In a Name?

You may be wondering where I came up with the name for our Blog: 

                                            1,333 Miles to Hughes

Robbie and I spent eight months in a long-distance relationship and five months in a long-distance engagement. For the majority of this time, there were 1,333 miles separating us… from his doorstep in Prosper, TX to mine in Montgomery Village, MD. Though the 13 months we spent apart were hard, I wouldn’t trade in those miles for anything. The Lord has a way of bringing people together. Our “togetherness” happened over text messages, letters (yes, snail mail), Facebook, phone calls, and weekend visits that were never long enough. Finally when we became Mr. & Mrs. Hughes, our 1,333 mile journey ended. But we’ve replaced that journey with a new one; on this journey we will be side by side every step of the way and we can’t wait to see all that is in store!

Well, I’m jumping on the Blog Bandwagon as a means to keep in touch and update family and friends both far and near.  I don’t offer anything fancy, just updates on the happenings of Mr. & Mrs. Hughes, some photos here and there and because I’m a foodie, I’m sure I’ll be sharing recipes along the way too!
